Ana Vieira is a Portuguese illustrator and graphic designer. Her work is mostly recognised by her stripped down illustrations and incorporation of type and nature.
(All artists have to answer the same 10 questions.)
1. First and Last Name
2. Where are you from? And where are you currently living?
I’m from Portugal. I was born and raised in a small town called São João da Madeira, and I’m now living in the beautiful city of Porto.
3. What’s your main influences?
My work is greatly influenced by human emotions, femininity, nature and consciousness.
4. How was your path until this moment? How did you start?
I believe wanting to be a visual artist was something that has been building inside me since I was a kid, but it only became clear to me that I wanted to be an illustrator once I was in college. Most of my illustration skills are self-taught, and I’m always working on improving and challenging myself. To be honest, no matter how much time goes by, I always feel like I’m still starting, it always feels new.

5. Where do you see yourself next?
I try not to worry too much about the future as I am still learning every day and making my path, but some of my goals are collaborating in animation, illustrating a poetry book and working on comic books.
6. Knowing what you know now, what would be your advice for people in the same area?
If you really want to be an artist, work on it. Take it seriously, practice and learn every day. I know it sounds like a cliche, but there really is no way around it. You have to work extremely hard and not let yourself be brought down by frustration. It will, eventually, pay off and there really is nothing more rewarding than doing what you love.

7. Is there something you are terrible at :)?
Soooo many things. I’m terrible in social situations, public speaking, drawing in perspective, math in general and anything business related. Shall I go on?
8. Tell us 3 things you like
9. And 3 things you don’t
- Douches and bigots
10. Last question, what are you listening at the moment (band, specific music or album)
Velvet Portraits by Terrace Martin
