Misha Shyukin is a motion designer currently living in Cologne and working as a freelancer. Before that he spent some years in London working at United Visual Artists.

(All artists have to answer the same 10 questions.)

1. First and Last Name
Misha Shyukin

2. Where are you from? And where are you currently living?
Liepaja, Latvia. Cologne, Germany.

3. What’s your main influences?
The usual stuff, tumblr, film photography, arty movies, anything Zeitguised is doing.

4. How was your path until this moment? How did you start?

I decided to start freelancing, while being absolutely terrified of it at the same time.

While still in school, I started doing some glowy animated texts in after effects for quake 3 videos sometime in 2005 and at some point, the AE part became more fun than the games. I was also playing around with photoshop at the time, trying to copy some early GMUNK 3d abstract artworks and uploading to deviantart.com, fun times 🙂

Got into design uni in Germany in 2007.
2011 I started an internship at United Visual Artists in London and was offered a full-time position right after.
After a couple years at UVA in London, I decided to start freelancing, while being absolutely terrified of it at the same time.

5. Where do you see yourself next?
I’d love to explore some realtime/interactive stuff.

6. Knowing what you know now, what would be your advice for people in the same area?
Do self-initiated projects, like, all the time!
