João Pereira is a UI and UX designer from Portugal. His graphic design background combined with an internship at the faculty of engineering lead him towards UI and UX.
(All artists have to answer the same 10 questions.)
1. First and Last Name
2. Where are you from? And where are you currently living?
I’m from a small town in Portugal called Vila Nova de Famalicão. It’s a nice place to live because it’s close to Porto, Braga, and Guimarães.
3. What’s your main influences?
My influences come mostly from websites and books, especially books, it’s good to leaf through a book once in a while and it’s always an excuse to leave the computer 😛
To keep track of UI/UX and graphic design news I use twitter and medium.
4. How was your path until this moment? How did you start?
It all started with an interest in visual arts and graphic design, and some luck picking schools with experimental environments that encouraged creative play.
After graduate, I went to an internship at the faculty of engineering, where I had the opportunity to design digital products for real companies. At that time, I realize that it was a growing market with plenty of room for experimentation, where my design skills would be handy. Currently, I’m working at Scytale giving shape to digital products, with focus on UI/UX, graphic design, and design direction.

5. Where do you see yourself next?
At the moment, I can’t imagine myself working on anything else other than design. My plans are to keep working on digital products and explore areas like illustration and animation. I am also thinking about creating a design brand.
