(All artists have to answer the same 10 questions.)
1. First and Last Name
2. Where are you from? And where are you currently living?
3. What’s your main influences?
It goes from traditional arts all the way music, film, photography and architecture.
More related to concept art and my latest portfolio I would have to mention Norman Rockwell, Peter de Seve, Carter Goodrich, J.C. Leyendecker, Dice Tsutsumi, Heinrich Kley, Pascal Campion, Daumier…
4. How was your path until this moment? How did you start?
I’ve always loved to draw. There are also a couple of artists in my family, including my mother, who influenced me quite a lot. My interest for visual arts got me into graphic design school. At university, I got into film, photography and later animation, that has become my passion ever since.
Fresh out of university I got a job at a big production company in Brazil as a post-production assistant but quickly decided that I wanted to spend some time travelling, so I did. I went to Chicago at first and then moved to Copenhagen where I started a master in visual communications at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
…I worked for several studios and I learned the ins and outs of the advertising industry.
Later I moved to Florence, Italy where I got a job as a designer in an interactive design company. After a year I moved shortly to Stockholm to work on a project and finally, I moved to London where I started freelancing for animation and film.
Over my time in London, I worked for several studios and I learned the ins and outs of the advertising industry. During that time I worked really hard to develop my portfolio towards my personal style. After spending almost 5 years in London I moved back to Brazil where I work remotely for production companies in the States, Europe and Australia.
5. Where do you see yourself next?
I would like to work with feature animation movies in the future. I also plan to start directing my own pieces.
6. Knowing what you know now, what would be your advice for people in the same area?
It’s always been important to me to find references that are not directly related to design and implement them into the creative process. It’s easy to get stuck to a certain patter when you are just looking inside the design industry and ignoring your cultural influences.
It’s easy to get stuck to a certain patter when you are just looking inside the design industry and ignoring your cultural influences.
7. Is there something you are terrible at :)?
I don’t have a really good memory so I have to create a personal system to make sure I don’t forget anything.
8. Tell us 3 things you like
9. And 3 things you don’t
- Lazy people
- Deep fried food
- Donald Trump
10. Last question, what are you listening at the moment (band, specific music or album)
Django Reinhart – Djangology
