(All artists have to answer the same 10 questions.)

1. First and Last Name
Davy Evans

2. Where are you from? And where are you currently living?
Originally from Pembrokeshire in West Wales, but currently living in Brighton.

Abstract ink

3. What’s your main influences?
Mainly nature, the outdoors, science, and music. I think it’s good to look for inspiration from things and places your unfamiliar with too, especially the older stuff like film and art.
My brother introduced me to a lot of good music and art when I was growing up, especially electronica and artists such as Chris Cunningham, so he’s been a big influence.

4. How was your path until this moment? How did you start?
I spent a lot of time drawing as a kid, my dad used to paint landscapes as a hobby so I think that might have influenced me in some way. I eventually starting messing around with photoshop and macro photography as I got older and decided to go to college to study ‘Graphic Design’.

…pushed us to be experimental with our work, not to be afraid of making mistakes

I’d never heard of the subject before but it sounded like the perfect mix of all the mediums I was into at the time so I went for it. It was a pretty small class of about 5 of us I think. My teacher Richard Brooke’s came from a fine art background, so he always pushed us to be experimental with our work, not to be afraid of making mistakes, and stepping away from the computer to create work from time to time is a good thing.

5. Where do you see yourself next?
I would love to explore title design, and do more live visual work for events and festivals. Apart from that, keep doing the freelance thing and work with more musicians.

6. Knowing what you know now, what would be your advice for people in the same area?
Work as hard as you can, be as experimental with your work as possible without worrying about making mistakes, happy accidents often give the most unique outcomes, try to ignore what everyone else is doing, have fun.
